- Identify the decisions you want to make, rather than choosing by the zombie theme alone.
- For Over Hazed, base location and vision connect preparation to battle.
- Use current in-game panels to confirm unlocks, costs and event rules.
RTS, base building, survival or tower defense?
Swipe the table sideways on a narrow screen to compare every column.
| Type | Your main decisions | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Zombie RTS | Troop deployment, positioning and battle timing. | Which commands remain under player control? |
| Zombie base building | Upgrade order, resource supply and defense. | Is the base persistent, movable or rebuilt within a scenario? |
| Zombie survival / crafting | Supplies, shelter and survival priorities. | Does the game actually include the crafting and survival loop you want? |
| Zombie tower defense | Defensive placement, upgrades and wave coverage. | Are routes fixed, and what can you control during a wave? |
These categories can overlap. Over Hazed is a fit to examine for online base, army and territory strategy. Players primarily seeking a first-person shooter or an offline crafting sandbox should use those more specific categories when comparing games.
A Mobile Fortress changes the location decision
A moving base makes position part of preparation. Before relocating, identify the task you want to support, the information available about the destination and the route you can use if conditions change. A resource opportunity can be unattractive if it leaves the fortress exposed.

The Mobile Fortress and MCV guide provides a preparation checklist. For development priorities, continue to base, resources and Laser Cannon progression.
Fog of war makes information useful
Scouting and Watchtowers give context to a movement or attack. Ask what is visible, what remains uncertain and how quickly allies can react. Information has value only if it changes the plan: delaying an advance, using another route or choosing a safer objective.

Read the haze and Watchtower guide for a repeatable scouting decision. The linked guide separates observable information from assumptions about what an unseen opponent may do.
A zombie RTS decision: scout, position, then fight or retreat
Use the interface below to connect three questions: what is visible, where the fortress can support the objective, and whether the formation can return safely. The screenshot gives visual context; the sequence is a practice checklist, not a recorded battle result.

- Scout the approach. Separate the visible route from the unseen area. Check available scouting and Watchtower information before assuming the approach is clear. Follow the haze and vision checklist.
- Choose the fortress position. Compare travel, nearby allies and the way back before moving closer. Read the current movement conditions and costs in the Mobile Fortress / MCV workflow and game client.
- Decide whether to engage. Match the known target to your formation and available support. In a mode with manual commands, check the selected troops and intended route before committing. If visibility or support is insufficient, delay or select a safer objective.
- Keep a withdrawal condition. Reassess when the route, target or support changes. Afterward, record whether scouting changed the route, whether the fortress position helped, and whether recovery remained available.
Turn scouting into a go / no-go decision
Before moving the fortress or committing a formation, use the current map to fill in the checks below. The official image shows resource counters, march/return timers and structures; it does not establish that an unseen route is safe. This is a practice decision sheet, not a recorded battle outcome.
| What you can observe | Decision to consider | What to verify afterward |
|---|---|---|
| The approach includes an area you have not revealed. | Scout or obtain current vision before moving toward the objective. | Did new information change the route or target? Do not count unseen terrain as clear. |
| The destination is visible, but travel and ally support are uncertain. | Compare fortress locations and read movement conditions before relocating. | Can the formation reach the objective and keep a return option under the current rules? |
| The target or available support changes after departure. | Reassess the engagement; delay or withdraw where the mode allows it. | Check the actual return, recovery and resource state before committing again. |
For preparation, continue to heroes and troop formations. For group objectives, use the Fortress and World Center guide.
The official fog encounter story introduces the fight-or-retreat theme. It is a cinematic clip, not a demonstration of the controls or a substitute for the interface and current rules.
